So, I HATE to exercise! NOT.GOING.TO.HAPPEN. I was 57 years old when I started this, and if I knew anything, I knew that if I had to incorporate or stick to any type of "normal" exercise program, it wasn't going to happen. I wouldn't be able to (i.e., WANT to) sustain it. So I had to put on the old thinking cap and come up with another way to get the body moving. Something I could do in whatever increments of time worked for me any given day. Something that I could do rain or shine (yes, it DOES rain here in Southern California! Not much, but it does.) Something I could increase in intensity (or down-crease, if so needed.) Something I LOVE and could actually look forward to. What did I come up with? DANCING. Plain old, what you would do at a wedding reception, 'fast-dance' dancing!
So I have created an iPod playlist to exercise to. I'm listing it below. I started out, in April 09, doing about 15 minutes at a time, nonstop. That's the rule-whatever I do, it has to be nonstop. Eventually, I've gotten to where I do 30 minutes at lunch Monday-Thursdays in a deserted office at my work place...and 30 to 45 minutes at home before dinner. Weekends, I try to get two 45 minute sessions in each day.
Re the playlist...of course, I shuffle it….(so things don't get boring) but I thought it would be easier to read if it was sorted by artist. I have added about 20 songs since this original post...but it gives you a good idea. Seven months in, and it doesn't get old! I LOVE IT!
